Since 2009, Cadaxx Design has become one of Toronto’s most trusted firms for building permits and permit-ready drawings. What started as a small residential design studio has grown into
a team specializing in delivering accurate, compliant documentation that helps projects gain approval quickly and move smoothly into construction.

Who We Are
Cadaxx Design is a family-run residential design firm founded by Alex Axelrod, serving homeowners and builders across the Greater Toronto Area.
With an engineering background from St. Petersburg, Alex moved to Canada to pursue his passion for residential design and construction.
We are a team of residential designers focused on creating clear, code-compliant building permit drawings for custom homes, additions, basement apartments, and interior renovations.
While our core expertise is in design and permit coordination, we collaborate with a trusted network of independent structural engineers, HVAC designers, and contractors who contribute their services as needed for each project.
Our role is to lead and coordinate the full permit process — integrating all technical inputs into a unified, city-ready drawing package.
We also maintain long-term working relationships with surveyors, arborists, TRCA consultants, and municipal examiners, ensuring every project moves efficiently from design to approval.
2009 – Cadaxx Design was founded, where we completed our first residential project and began building a reputation for reliable, detail-oriented design.
2011 – The company officially took shape, expanding our client base and completing dozens of new projects across the GTA.
2013 – Reached 500 completed projects and grew to a team of four talented designers.
2015 – Won our first HomeStars Best of Award, an honour we’ve proudly earned every year since.
2016 – Achieved 1,000 completed projects, marking a new level of experience and trust in the community.
2020 – Surpassed 1,500 projects, continuing to deliver permit-ready design solutions across Toronto and beyond.
2022 – Recognized with the HomeStars Best of the Best Award, which we’ve proudly earned every year since for our consistent excellence and client satisfaction.

Residential Design

From concept plans to code-compliant layouts, we balance functionality, aesthetics, and zoning rules to create a design that works for both you and the municipality.
Building Permits
We prepare all required architectural drawings, coordinate with engineers,
and manage the full submission process to the city.
Our team responds to examiner comments and ensures your project receives permit approval as efficiently as possible.
CoA (Committee of Adjustment)
For projects requiring variances, we prepare full CoA packages, including drawings, justification letters, and neighbourhood analysis.
We handle submission, coordinate with planners, and represent you at the hearing to support a successful outcome.
Engineering
We work closely with trusted structural, mechanical, and HVAC engineers to provide complete, coordinated drawings.
Our team ensures all engineering components integrate seamlessly with the design and meet Ontario Building Code requirements.
Construction Guidance
During construction, we remain available to assist contractors, respond to inspection comments, update drawings, and resolve on-site issues.
Our support helps ensure your project is built according to approved plans and passes all required inspections.
